Brochure figures versus the road

Range determines how you plan a trip, and official consumption figures come from a standardised test cycle that resembles nobody's actual riding. Let's collect real numbers.

Template

Code:
Model, year, mileage:
Country:
Riding type: (city / motorway / mountain / mixed / loaded touring)
Typical cruising speed:
Solo or two-up:
Luggage fitted:

Consumption you are seeing:
Distance before the fuel light:
Distance you have actually managed on a tank:

What makes this useful

  • Say whether the figure is from the dashboard or calculated at the pump. Dashboard readouts are frequently optimistic.
  • Note whether you have a screen, luggage or crash bars fitted — aerodynamics change this significantly at motorway speed.
  • Tyre choice matters. Knobblies cost fuel.

The most useful post in this thread is from someone who has ridden the same bike solo and fully loaded and can give both numbers. If that is you, please post both.
