DS900X vs Transalp, V-Strom 800DE, F900GS and Tiger 900
The value argument only means something if you're honest about what you give up. So let's be honest.
THE PRICE POSITION
In the UK the DS900X has been listed from around £8,499–9,199. A base BMW F900GS sits close to £12,000 before you tick a single option box. That gap is the entire proposition.
WHERE THE VOGE WINS
WHERE THE RIVALS WIN
HOW I'D FRAME THE DECISION
Both positions are defensible. Neither is stupid.
Question for owners who came from an established brand: what surprised you, in both directions? That's the most useful data this forum can gather.

WHERE THE VOGE WINS
- Standard equipment. Heated grips, heated seat, cruise control, quickshifter, keyless, KYB forks, Brembo calipers — as standard. On the European rivals, several of those are cost options
- Price. Not marginally cheaper. Thousands cheaper
- Engine. It's the same fundamental unit as the BMW at a fraction of the price
WHERE THE RIVALS WIN
- Refinement. This is the honest weak point. Reviewers consistently describe the DS900X engine as vibey through the bars and pegs, a bit clattery, and less polished than its BMW-badged cousin
- Fuelling calibration. The abrupt Sport-mode response at low revs is a real criticism
- Dealer network and residuals. Honda, Suzuki, BMW and Triumph have decades of network depth. Resale value on the Voge is an open question
- Weight. The Transalp in particular is significantly lighter and easier to manage
HOW I'D FRAME THE DECISION
If your priority is refinement, resale and a dealer in every town, buy the Japanese or European bike. If your priority is the most motorcycle per unit of currency and you can live with rough edges, the Voge is very hard to argue against.
Both positions are defensible. Neither is stupid.
