Voge DS900X vs CFMoto 800MT — the real comparison
The two bikes most cross-shopped in this segment. Both Chinese-built, both leaning on a European engine partnership, both undercutting the establishment. Here's how they actually differ.
ENGINE PEDIGREE
DS900X: 895 cc parallel twin, 270° crank, from the BMW F-series family that Loncin manufactures. Roughly 70 kW / 95 Nm.
800MT: 799 cc parallel twin derived from the KTM 790 platform, built under CFMoto's partnership with KTM. Around 70 kW as well.
Both are legitimate engines with real development behind them. Neither is a knock-off in the pejorative sense.
CHARACTER
The Voge's larger displacement gives it a slightly torquier mid-range feel, which suits loaded touring. The KTM-derived unit in the CFMoto is generally regarded as the more eager, revvier motor.
OFF-ROAD INTENT
This is the clearest split. The DS900X runs a 21-inch front wheel with 190 mm of ground clearance — genuinely adventure-biased geometry. The 800MT in its standard Touring form runs a 19-inch front and is more road-focused; the Sport variant differs.
If gravel and trails are part of your plan, the Voge's front wheel size is a meaningful advantage.
EQUIPMENT
Both are generously kitted. The DS900X arrives with heated grips, heated seat, cruise control, keyless ignition, quickshifter, KYB forks and Brembo calipers as standard, which is an unusually complete list at the price.
WEIGHT
Neither is light. The DS900X sits around 220 kg dry and is noticeably top-heavy at walking pace. Factor this in honestly if you're shorter or new to big adventure bikes.
Bottom line
Dealer support should weigh heavily in this decision. Both brands are still building out their networks. A great bike with no dealer within 300 km is not a great bike.
Anyone here cross-shopped both in person? What made the decision for you?

Bottom line
- Choose the DS900X if: you want the 21-inch front, the larger engine, and the fullest standard equipment list
- Choose the 800MT if: you want the revvier motor and a more road-biased chassis, or your local dealer network is stronger for CFMoto
